VEGETABLES PART ONE

CROP RETATION 3 YEAR AND 3 SECTION

Explanation of crop planning

There is reason to plan a three-year crop rotation as in the diagram for successful vegetable growing.

These are the reasons for the plot to separate into three years then split into three sections one of the reasons is pest control also many vegetables do not

A   Like well manured land

C Prefer fertilized soil

B Fertilized with lime this is good for soil borne pests e.g. Clubroot

  • The words soil management back again basic soil management double and single digging following basic rules clay soil late summer early autumn with addition of manure FYM
  • Second year single dig adding fertilizer and lime
  • Third year single dig plus fertilizer
  • With paths built in so as the soil does not get damaged when moving between section (areas)
  • Approximate size of the plot is 30 metres by 10 metres
  • It  is  then split into 3 section of 10 metres by 10 metres
