HOW TO REPLACE THE FEP FILM ON ELEGOO MARS 5 ULTRA

Welcome to Dudley’s Blog’s, This blog is to show and tell you how to replace the FEP film on a resin printer. 

STUFF YOU NEED 

  1. THE RIGHT FEP FILM TANK WITH DAMAGED FEP
  2.  SOMETHING TO PUT THE WASTE INTO
  3.  YELLOW SCRAPER 
  4. BLUE ROW 
  5. HOBBY KNIFT 
  6. HOT SOAPY WATER 
  7. BIN 
  8. SOFT CLOTH 
  9. ALLEN KEYS 
  10. GLOVES 
  11. Always but GLOVES on and then start. 
  12. SCISSORS

TO TEST FEP IS LEAKING

place a tissue under the tank on dry part of flat bench. Pour some water into tank to about 1/3 of the max depth if there is a leak a damp spot will appear. If none appear then stir with the plastic scraper pressing on the FEP this will cause an damp spot to appear if there is a leak

TEMPORARY FEP REPAIR

You need to know where the leak is in FEP is the FEP needs to be clean and dry the FEP can not have an hole in but if it as it does not work but will work only work if it is a slite use celli tape and put two pieces one on upper and under side

REPLACING FEP

Remove the screws from the base of the resin tank using Allen keys then allow it from drop from the resin tank then remove the screws from the two material frames which hold the FEP in place by screws using Allen keys Remove old FEP now wash the frames and the tank of hardened resin using hobby knife by scraping it off

Dry the frames and put the bottom frame to one side this is the one with small screws in it with recesses on the top one take the FEP now and remove the protection from both sides then place it on the bottom frame making sure its central then place top frame with the recesses on top

now screw the corner screws making sure it stay central then screw the rest in now using scissors cut around the outer edge of the frames now drop the frames and FEP into the bottom of the tank then with the recesses on the top then screw the screws in this will tighten the FEP make sure all the screws are tight so the heads of the screws do not damage the machine

Check for leaks as told how to before.
