Why I Started the Flip Series

Duddles Flip is part of Dudley’s Scale Model Car’s, the place that helped me get to where I am now and kept me from going back to the darkness. As I wrote before:

The idea came from the TV show Car Masters: Rust to Riches. Not many scale model builders do flipping because of the cost, the time, and the risk. But the flipping method fits my story perfectly:

• Build a model

• Sell it

• Use the money to fund the next one

• Grow the brand one step at a time

Just like the show, the key rule is simple:

“I have to sell the first car before the next car… that is how it work and it’s the key way.”

Flip #1 is the start of that journey.

The Kit

Flip #1 began with the Heller 1/24 Peugeot 205 GTI, costing £37.83 including shipping. A simple kit, but perfect for a first flip: clean lines, good detail, and plenty of room for custom work.

The Build Plan

The plan was to keep the car mostly stock, but give it a paint job that stands out something people wouldn’t normally choose. That keeps the “Dudley’s Scale Model Car’s” custom style alive.

As I wrote:

“The car will be stock but the paint job might be custom or just a paint what you might not pick.”

This is what makes Flip #1 unique.

Build Details

This model was built using a full custom paint process:

• Pink primer base coat

• Kaleido K14 Metallic Purple‑Red airbrushed for a shifting finish

• Kaleido Glossy Clear for shine and protection

• Fully airbrushed body

• Hand‑painted interior and exterior details

• Sanded, prepped, and finished by hand

• Clear‑coated for long‑term display durability

Nothing rushed. Nothing mass‑produced. Just shed‑built craftsmanship.

The Custom Display Box

This is where the build becomes a Dudley’s Hub collectible.

From my original notes:

“I will make the display box base out of Natural wood… the clear will be custom to fit the wood… also it will have a custom 3D printed placque.”

The display box includes:

• Natural wood base

• Custom clear cover

• 3D‑printed plaque

• Real outdoor background photo from Duddles Eye

• Wheel stoppers and mounting screws

• A clean, professional finish

This turns the model into a proper art piece something made to be shown, not hidden.

Handwritten Note

Every flip includes a handwritten note from me.

It includes:

• The flip number

• The model name

• Where it was built

• A personal message

The handwriting shows my natural spelling and grammar due to dyslexia this is intentional and part of the honesty of the brand.

One‑Off Collectible

This is Flip #1. There will never be another one like it.
