IS THE ELEGOO RESIN MARS 5 ULTRA GOOD FOR A BEGINNER?

I should say getting a 3D printer is getting harder every year, not because of the cost it’s because of what are coming with the new printers like resin printer I feel are getting better every year because there are always new stuff coming out to add onto the printer, So it can be easy if you know what you are going to be using it for.

I should all so say this blog is not sponsored or anything by Elegoo, I am not getting paid to say anything, I picked Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra because it’s a printer I used for day to day and I have got learning disabilities and this is way I did this blog to show anyone can pick up 3D resin printing, I started in 2023 with the Elegoo Mars 3 pro and then started to move up to the Elegoo Resin Mars 5 Ultra (If you want to read why I pick Elegoo mars printers click here) But I do think starting this hobby is hard work but it’s a great way of saving money the resin is cheap the parts what brake are also cheap and getting the files are cheap too if you look at what the cost of the kits are.

 

WHAT TO THINK ABOUT WHEN LOOKING AT PRINTERS

 

I feel most of resin 3D printer users are for miniatures, and for them you always need detail, In my case it’s mostly used for 1/24 scale car engine or sometime a model. Yes I need detail, But I feel that is way you go for resin printing anyway, You might be also thinking it goes by the resin because there is 16K resin and more but I don’t think that at the moment I use 8K and so I am getting all the others to test them out for a other blog and YouTube video to help you pick the resin, But at the moment I’ve used 8K and standard I mostly used Elegoo Standard to print most of my stuff but up to now I have been learning to print, I feel I’m in a nice place where I can share what I have learned and start using more different resins to help you. I can’t tell what the moment is best (please come and be a member of my website and wait for that blog).

 

SETTING UP AND USING.

 

Please remember I’m doing this blog off my own back and sharing what I think and not getting any support from Elegoo and I am free to say what I like. Out of my own money I paid for this printer and the others I have had,

So you know that I am known for that, Setting the printer up out of the box is easy and great (If you want to see what is in the box click here to see my unboxing) I feel it’s a plug and go printer, The size is great, there are bigger printers out there and in time there will be bigger and better ones than this printer, When I first powered up the printer it had to do some updates so leave it to do that it will then say un-plug do that the it will go thought a driver self-test to see if everything is working good it will does this every time you power up the printer, If you have a file it will go through a small self-test again mostly on the tank and resin, It will also tell you if the resin is over full or under full, The build plate dose move but the tank moves more, I feel this way is better. The camera is a good way to keep on top of the print sadly not good in the dark so you need a light on the printer all the time, I’ve not yet tried to see if I can use the camera on a phone or tablet but people say you can, But I know you can watch on other computers like my dad’s computer is in the main house and he can also watch it from there I can watch it on the computer what I use for my printing (If you want to read on how to use the camera you can by clicking here).

 

DO I THINK IT’S GOOD FOR NEW PEOPLE!

 

Well no I feel the Elegoo Mars 4 is the better printer for new people who is getting into the hobby, But if you want to save money and just get the better printer and learn using it, and save time, The Elegoo Mars 5 is the right one, The detail is good and I feel the ultra-stuff on the printer helps a lot, But if stuff go wrong I feel it goes wrong big time, My dad drop a little resin and it fully broke the printer and I had to get a new one someone but new, That is what I mean if you break any printer it’s the same but this one seems to be worse I did the same with the others and it didn’t brake it that fast and easy, If you want your prints fast it’s also a good one to have same with detail but I feel it’s on the file and what you are printing the resin can help to and if the printer is good for the detail and I have seen some great prints

coming out of the printer so I feel for a new user yes it can work but I think you should look at the Elegoo Mars 4 first, and think of what you want out of it. At the end of the day, it goes by you and stuff I share this only to help you make your mind up on which one to pick, I don’t want to make your mind up for you just to help.
